In my classes the same question kept coming back. A student would show me a poster, a film title or a screenshot and ask, "Which Malayalam font is this?" For English there are tools like WhatTheFont, but nothing helped with Malayalam. We spent hours scrolling through font lists and guessing, and still weren't sure.
So instead of answering the same question again and again, I decided to fix the problem itself. I built Malayalam Font Finder. Upload a picture and it shows the closest Malayalam fonts, Free fonts can be downloaded. Paid fonts can be bought directly from the designers who made them.

ക്ലാസിൽ ഒരേ ചോദ്യം വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും വരാറുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഒരു പോസ്റ്ററോ സിനിമയുടെ ടൈറ്റിലോ സ്ക്രീൻഷോട്ടോ കാണിച്ചിട്ട് വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ ചോദിക്കും: "ഇത് ഏത് മലയാളം ഫോണ്ടാണ്?" ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ഫോണ്ടുകൾ കണ്ടെത്താൻ WhatTheFont പോലുള്ള ടൂളുകൾ ഉണ്ട്. പക്ഷേ മലയാളത്തിന് അങ്ങനെ ഒന്നും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. ഫോണ്ട് ലിസ്റ്റുകൾ മണിക്കൂറുകളോളം മറിച്ചുനോക്കി ഊഹിക്കേണ്ടി വന്നു, എന്നിട്ടും ഉറപ്പില്ല.
അതുകൊണ്ട് ഓരോ തവണയും ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നതിനു പകരം, പ്രശ്നം തന്നെ പരിഹരിക്കാൻ ഞാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെയാണ് മലയാളം ഫോണ്ട് ഫൈൻഡർ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയത്. ഒരു ചിത്രം അപ്‌ലോഡ് ചെയ്താൽ ഏറ്റവും സാമ്യമുള്ള മലയാളം ഫോണ്ടുകൾ കാണിക്കും. സൗജന്യ ഫോണ്ടുകൾ ഡൗൺലോഡ് ചെയ്യാം. പണം കൊടുത്ത് വാങ്ങേണ്ട ഫോണ്ടുകൾ, അവ ഡിസൈൻ ചെയ്തവരുടെ അടുത്തുനിന്ന് തന്നെ വാങ്ങാം.
ഇത് ഇപ്പോഴും വളർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഏതെങ്കിലും ഫോണ്ട് ഇല്ലെങ്കിലോ തെറ്റായ ഫലം വന്നാലോ ഫീഡ്ബാക്ക് ബോക്സിലൂടെ എന്നെ അറിയിക്കൂ.
